Now David said, “Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death. (1 Chronicles 22:5)

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”  (Abraham Lincoln) This drives the home the point about preparation.

Your preparation will not only bless the people around you and also bless your future generations.

8 ‘You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight. 9 Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. 10 He shall build a house for My name, (1 Chronicles 22:8-10)

Only a man of rest can build the house of God. A man of anger cannot build the house of God. Only a man of peace can build the house of peace. Only a man of love can build the house of love. Only a man of compassion can build the house of compassion.

Notice, the reason David was not allowed to build the house of the Lord was because he was a man who had shed much blood in the sight of the Lord. This disqualified him from building the house of the Lord.

Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you. (1 Chronicles 22:16)
A promise for workers

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, (1 Chronicles 22:19)
Only a person who can set his heart and soul to seek the Lord can build the house of the Lord.
