For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom. (1 Corinthians 12:8)

There are three types of wisdom:
The wisdom of God (I Corinthians 2:6-7)
The wisdom of the world (I Corinthians 2:6)
The wisdom of man (Ecclesiastes 1:16-18)

The gift of the word of wisdom is the application of knowledge that God gives you ( I Corinthians 2:6-7). This type of wisdom is a gift which cannot be gained through study or experience. However, it must be understood that it is not a replacement for wisdom gained through a diligent study of God’s word or experience

The gift of the word of wisdom is seeing life from God’s perspective. As a Christian exercises this gift, he begins to develop a fear of the Lord. This is the “beginning of wisdom” according to Proverbs 1:7.

When Lord Jesus was faced with temptations in the wilderness, He ignored what Satan attempted to offer and responded by quoting the Word of God each time. On the other hand, Eve, in the Garden of Eden, failed to confront the devil’s lies and was deceived which resulted in the catastrophic fall of man. (Luke 4:1-14)

When Apostle Paul was falsely accused and put on trial before the Jewish Council (Sanhedrin). Humanly speaking, there was no way out of this trial. He then suddenly spoke, “Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; it is with regard to the hope and the resurrection of the dead that I am indicted and being judged.”

The moment he said this, a great dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided. Paul escaped being tried. (Acts 23:1-7) This was a word in due season – the Word of Wisdom.

Another time, the Pharisees plotted a way to trap Jesus him into saying something damaging for which they could get Him arrested. So they asked Him, “Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

If Jesus said, “No, you should not,” they would accuse Him before Pontius Pilate of breaking the Roman law. If He said, “Yes, you should pay taxes to Caesar,” they would again accuse Him saying, that He sided with the Romans whom the Jews hated. Either case, He would be trapped. In human terms there was no way out of this tricky situation.

Jesus knew they were up to no good. He asked them for a coin and said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” He then said to them, “Give to Caesar the things that belong to Caesar, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way. (Matthew 22:18-22) This was a word of Wisdom.

Dear child of God, He will give you a mouth and wisdom for every situation you encounter. Whether it is what to say or what to do, He will give you the wisdom to handle the situation. The Word of Wisdom operating in your life and ministry will defeat every scheme of the enemy. You cannot be trapped in the fowler’s net.

One day, during my prayer time, I heard the Lord say, “Son, build a Prayer Tower that will cause people to come and intercede for the various prayer requests that you receive and the people that flock to your services.”

I immediately retorted saying, “Lord, it costs so much, how will I do it?” The Lord directed me to His Word saying, “I will provide” (Philippians 4:19) I knew it was the Lord speaking to me and yet I again protested saying, “Lord, whenever even your true servants ask people for money, they are ridiculed and slandered – I will not do it.” I sought the Lord diligently with fasting and prayer and and the Lord gave me the Gift of the Word of Wisdom. (Psalm 32:8) This is how we built the Prayer Tower. (This is how the services multiplied and continue to do so.) Not a single rupee for the Prayer Tower came from abroad or any organization. It was raised by the people in India itself.

In fact, the word of wisdom is essential in the operation of all the other gifts, so it is important to seek this gift. Pray for this gift. Ask God to saturate your life with it, and as you study Scripture, the Lord will begin to give you the word of wisdom to illuminate your understanding.

The Gift of the Word of Wisdom is not only for Pastors or those involved in ministry. It is for everyone. You may be a business person. You desperately need this gift considering the times that we live in. Even when you are doing business with church folk, you need this gift to operate or many good relationships could sour up.

Maybe you are a person who faithfully attends church services. You need this gift. Recently I read a secular report that said, “Con artists (cheaters) love churches” This is because often times Christians are considered soft targets, so gullible – not anymore when the gift of the Word of Wisdom is operating in them.

Lastly, a word to the people who looking to get married, the gift of the Word of Wisdom will save you a lot of heartaches.
