I saw the Lord always before me because He is at my right hand. I will not be shaken. (Acts 2:25)
The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger. 30 So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. (Ezekiel 22:29-30)
God requires intercessors. Today’s verse for the day highlights the great need for intercessors. In the times of Ezekiel, the land in which he was living was given up to all sorts of wickedness. God lamented at the fact that He could not find even one person to stand in the gap (intercede for the land) and hence he was forced to judge the land. Heaven and earth is crying out for faithful intercessors that will turn the tide of judgement into grace. Will you be one of them?
Start by praying for your family, your city, your prayer group, ministry, church, etc. Great will be your reward (Ruth 2:12). So great is the need for intercessors that even Apostle Paul acknowledged it saying, “Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. Pray that I will proclaim this message as clearly as I should.” (Colossians 4:2-4)
God wants you to step forward and stand in the gap and intercede for the people. It is very good when others pray for you and you receive the blessings. But now it is your turn. You may want to do other things and also you make time to enjoy life, but intercession cannot be neglected. When you intercede, you are showing that you are a responsible Christian. Also you are showing that you have concern for people and this is the mind of Christ.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You for calling me to be an intercessor and stand in the gap for the people. Guide me as I step forward for this task so that I may become a blessing for the people. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
