And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. (James 5:18)

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. (James 5:13-17)

People have various notions about prayer. When we use the word prayer all the people do not think the same thing. The meaning of prayer seems to differ from person to person. As a boy I was taught that prayer is “talking” to God. Prayer is more than just talking to God-it is a conversation with God. Also, there are no specific formulas in prayer. However, sometimes it is good to use a “method of prayer” to rekindle the passion for prayer. A simple method is the A.C.T.S. method. (A-Adoration, C- Confession, T-Thanksgiving and S-Supplication)

A-Adoration: Begin by adoring (worshipping) the Lord. You could even sing a song. God deserves our worship. Here worship should not be some ritualistic worship but worshipping in spirit and in truth.

C-Confession: This is where you come and confess all those things that stand between you and Him. Ask Him to cleanse you with His precious blood.

T-Thanksgiving: Begin to thank Him for all the wonderful things He has done and is about to do. This is the hardest part for many as thanking God requires faith.

S–Supplication: Now ask Him your needs, prayer requests etc. Many people start their prayer with prayer requests. This type of prayer is selfish prayer. We have to come to God with love and talk to Him and bring our prayer requests later.

Many have tried this simple yet profound method and it has worked for them. ACTS. So now it’s time to put your prayer life into action.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I worship and adore You for You are God. Forgive me for the wrong things I have done. I thank You for blessing me. I pray that my life may be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
