Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die!” (Genesis 30:1)
Don’t allow jealousy to come into your heart. Children are given by God and not by human effort.
Rachel did not look to the Lord. She looked to her husband instead. She probably blamed her husband for her predicament. Too many people are doing the same. While there is nothing wrong with going to doctors and getting prayed by men and women of God, we must primarily look to the Lord.
The fruit of the womb – child (Genesis 30:2)
Then she gave him Bilhah her maid as wife, and Jacob went in to her. (Genesis 30:4)
This did not mean that Jacob actually married Bilhah. It means Jacob did with Bilhah what a man should only do with his wife.
Then Rachel said, “God has judged my case, and He has also heard my voice and given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan. (Genesis 30:6)
Many bible scholars say that the Anti-Christ will come from the tribe of Dan. The reason for this is Jacob’s prophecy in Genesis “Dan shall be a serpent”. This makes the Anti-Christ a Jew
Some say the Anti-Christ will be a Muslim
Some say the Anti-Christ will be a Christian
There is a subtle hint. Could it be that 666 refers to an unholy trinity?
Besides, 6 is no of man in the bible.
Could the unholy trinity be comprised of a:
- A Jew
- Christian
- And a Muslim
Now Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.” (Genesis 30:14)
What does the mandrake have to do with pregnancy? In early peoples, the mandrake was associated with the belief that it promoted fertility and conception in barren women. The mandrake root was consumed in very small amounts, cut into an amulet to wear on the body, or put beneath the bed.
Rachel was using Mandrakes apparently to conceive. There is no mention of the Lord condemning her for those actions.
But she said to her, “Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son’s mandrakes also?” (Genesis 30:15)
God’s wisdom and original intent are expressed in Genesis 2:24: one man to be joined to one woman in a one-flesh relationship. Later, Leviticus 18:18 forbade the marrying of sisters, and this was why.
Jacob said to Laban, “The Lord has blessed you since my coming (Genesis 30:30)
Some people are a blessing even as they enter our lives - some are a test.
You can either be a test or a blessing to someone – it’s your choice.
Now Jacob took for himself rods of green poplar and of the almond and chestnut trees, peeled white strips in them, and exposed the white which was in the rods. And the rods which he had peeled, he set before the flocks in the gutters, in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink, so that they should conceive when they came to drink. So the flocks conceived before the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted. (Genesis 30:37-39)
There is are powerful principles in operation here.
“What you see you will conceive”
“What you will hear birth”
So it's very important what you see, what you hear and read. Don't keep on reading the news. Once or twice a day is good enough.
