The Second Coming of Christ
Then Joseph could not restrain himself before all those who stood by him, and he cried out, “Make everyone go out from me!” So no one stood with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers. And he wept aloud, and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard it. (Genesis 45:1-2)
There is a prophetic hint here about the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Notice, in the above verses; the gentiles were told to go out when Joseph revealed himself to his brothers. They were not around. The Church will not be around when Christ reveals himself to his brothers.
"For these two years, the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither ploughing nor harvesting. (Genesis 45:6)
Joseph was revealed to his brothers during the second year of the seven-year famine.
Will Christ be revealed to the Jews during what year of the tribulation? One thing is established that the Church will not be around during the tribulation.
Also, do not be concerned about your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’” (Genesis 45:20)
This is a prophetic statement. When we go to heaven, we leave everything behind. God has ordained it this way because the heavens best cannot be compared with anything seen.
but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments. (Genesis 45:22)
Grace and favour marked Benjamins life cause he was related to Joseph - his elder brother.
Preaching the Gospel
And they told him, saying, “Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt.” And Jacob’s heart stood still, because he did not believe them. But when they told him all the words which Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived. (Genesis 45:26-27)
Jacob’s sons told him that Joseph was alive but he could not believe it. However, when they told him..
- the words of Joseph
- Jacob saw the carts Joseph had sent
- They believed
In the same way, when we proclaim the gospel to the Jews and the gentiles, we must preach a message that is very personal to them and which speaks to them. Also, they must see and experience the blessings then their drooping spirits will be revived.
Genesis 46:21 Benjamin, whom uninformed artists have frequently pictured as a mere youth when he met Joseph in Egypt, was, in fact, the father of 10 sons at this time. Joseph was 17 when his brothers sold him; he was in prison for 13 years; he had been governor of Egypt during the seven good years and through 2 years of the famine. So Joseph was 39 years of age at this time, and Benjamin was only a few years younger.
