And he went out to meet Asa and said to him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him, craving Him as your soul’s first necessity], He will be found by you; but if you [become indifferent and] forsake Him, He will forsake you. (2 Chronicles 15:2)
If you seek Him [inquiring for and of Him, craving Him as your soul’s first necessity], He will be found by you. Notice those powerful words, “as your soul’s first necessity.” When you seek the Lord in this manner, You will find Him.
Now for a long time, Israel was without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law. (2 Chronicles 15:3)
“Without a teaching priest” These words serve to remind us that the Levites and the priesthood were responsible for a great deal more than simply administering the system of sacrifices. They were to be dispersed across all of Israel's tribes so that they may impart the word of God to the Israelites.
..for they came over to Asa out of Israel in large numbers when they saw that the Lord his God was with him. (2 Chronicles 15:9)
The godly remnant that remained amid the wayward northern tribes who made up the kingdom of Israel respected King Asa for his courageous obedience to God. They desired to take part in an earnest move away from the world and toward God.
There is also a powerful principle here. When people see that God is with you, they will come to you in large numbers.
And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim; and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord. (2 Chronicles 15:8)
1. The prophetic word encouraged Asa.
2. The word moved him to action - to put his kingdom in order (When you receive a word that you will get a house….don't sit at home. Go and at least find out how much it will cost and what documents are required. When you receive a word that you will get a job, don't just sit watching the TV, go and apply somewhere)
