3 When I [Solomon] was a son with my father [David], tender and the only son in the sight of my mother [Bathsheba],
4 He taught me and said to me, Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments and live. (Proverbs 4:3-4 AMPC)
David taught Solomon the wisdom and truth he learned from God. Solomon learned to value wisdom and passed it along to those who came after him. When he became king, he asked the
heavenly Father to give him even greater wisdom to rule the nation. (See 2 Chronicles 1:9–12.)
We have often heard that God allows U-turns. What it means is that if we make a mistake and go on a road that is not right, the Lord allows U-turns so that we can get back on the right road. But take a look at what the word says on this.
God on His part is gracious and merciful to allow us those U-turns. But let me tell you, if you are taking too many u-turns, you will be wasting time in getting where you should really be. (Proverbs 4:10-15 MSG)
My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings.
Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart.
For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)
Lord Jesus said, My words are life. (John 6:63) God told Joshua that if he would meditate in the Word day and night, he would prosper and have good success. In order to choose life and blessing, you will have to choose the Word of God. You will have to become Word-minded instead of trouble-minded, life-minded instead of death-minded. You will have to become single-minded on the Word of God.
Keep your eyes straight ahead;
ignore all sideshow distractions.
Look neither right nor left;
leave evil in the dust. (Proverbs 4:25)
This one instruction from the word can keep us from falling prey to lust.
