According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances. (Leviticus 18:3)
Moses was instructed to tell the people of God that they were to live their lives differently. They were not to live as they had seen the Egyptians live, while they were their slaves. Nor were they to begin living as the people in Canaan lived, the land God was taking them to possess.
The principle is clear. The place where you stay and the people among whom you stay should not influence you but rather you are to positively influence them.
Lord Jesus said, “you are the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13). Salt in the right quantity brings taste and increase the value of the food. You are to influence the people positively around you.
Sadly, the Christians today often take their standard of conduct from the world, and not from God and His Word. Clearly, Christians should be different from the world in their morality, and they should follow a Biblical standard of morality.
We are to be thermostats, not thermometers. The thermometer simply reflects the current temperature of its surroundings. But the thermostat registers the temperature and then seeks to change it to a set standard.
In the early church, one argument for the truth of Christianity offered by Christians was “You can know it’s true by looking at our lives.” Today, the Christian world says, “Don’t look at me, look at Jesus.”
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 MSG)
“You must never have sexual relations with a close relative, for I am the Lord. (Leviticus 18:6)
All throughout Scripture, we are taught that sex is to be a total union of a man and his wife, expressing physical, emotional, and spiritual oneness. That is what sex is all about. It is a total union.
However, sex with the wrong person is always harmful. And the most harmful of all, according to this passage, is sex with those who are near of kin.
That is what God goes on to warn his people about. When a proper regard for the sexual limitations prescribed by God are broken down, the barrier which protects us from the unseen forces of darkness which surround us is compromised. Demonic forces then have an open door.
This is what destroys a race. A nation begins to fall apart at that point. Society comes apart at the seams.
When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, the city of Pompeii was covered in ash. The heat of the ash killed everyone in the city and eventually decomposed their bodies, leaving behind an empty cavity in the ash. When the cavities were discovered, they were filled with plaster so that we could see what they looked like after everything was excavated.
But that is not the entire story of Pompeii
From 79 to 1599 AD the city lay forgotten. But when Pompeii was discovered in 1599, its discoverer Domenico Fontana was so shocked by what he saw, that he thought it was not fit to release upon the world. Pompeii was the manufacturer of pornographic pleasures unlike any time in Western history until…now. The Lord destroyed the whole city like Sodom and Gomorrah.
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. (Romans 1:24-27)
The above scriptures tell us of the decay and the decline in today’s society.
Homosexuality
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)
Homosexuality is actually a demon spirit. A genuine prophet of God told me that the Lord allowed him to smell this demon spirit, and he got sick to his stomach. And yet as humans, many embrace this demon.
