The strong among the mighty Shall speak to him out of the midst of hell With those who help him: 'They have gone down, They lie with the uncircumcised, slain by the sword.' (Ezekiel 32:21)
The irony here is obvious. No nation in history put more emphasis on life after death—the elaborate pyramids and subterranean burial vaults; the art of embalming; the amassing of enormous wealth and every conceivable provision for abundant life in the world to come. None of this, however, will prevent the mighty Pharaohs from being brought down in shame to the pit.
26 “There are Meshech and Tubal and all their multitudes,
With all their graves around it,
All of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword,
Though they caused their terror in the land of the living.
27 They do not lie with the mighty
Who are fallen of the uncircumcised,
Who have gone down to hell with their weapons of war;
They have laid their swords under their heads,
But their iniquities will be on their bones,
Because of the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
28 Yes, you shall be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, And lie with those slain by the sword.
Ezekiel 32:17-32 is an interesting passage because it mentions some of the nations that are expected to have a role during the end times.
Ezekiel 32:26-28 references Meshech and Tubal, which are also mentioned in Ezekiel 38 and Ezekiel 39.
