And it came to pass in the eleventh year, on the first day of the month, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, ‘Aha! She is broken who was the gateway of the peoples; now she is turned over to me; I shall be filled; she is laid waste.’ “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I am against you, O Tyre, and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes its waves to come up. (Ezekiel 26:1-3)
What you say against God’s people could land you into serious trouble. The reason for the troubles of Tyre were partly because of what it had spoken against Jerusalem.
Biblical examples of people speaking against God’s people
1.Miriam and Aaron speaking against Moses
And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, ‘has the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? Has he not spoken also by us?’ And the LORD heard it. (Numbers 12:1-2)
2.Korah against Moses
Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men. And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown. (Numbers 16:1-2)
3. Children of Israel speaking against Moses
And the people spoke against God and against Moses; ‘Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loathes this worthless bread’. (Numbers 21:5)
4. Youths speaking against Elisha
And he went up from there unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came youths out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, ‘Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead’. (2 Kings 2:23)
Many things are going wrong in the life of many people today because they spoke against a servant of God and God’s wrath was kindled against them.
"For thus says the Lord GOD: 'When I make you a desolate city, like cities that are not inhabited, when I bring the deep upon you, and great waters cover you, (Ezekiel 26:19)
Clearly Tyre was submerged in the waters. Some speculate that Tyre could be the lost city of Atlantis. There is no credible proof to this.
I will make you a terror, and you shall be no more; though you are sought for, you will never be found again,' says the Lord GOD." (Ezekiel 26:21)
God clearly said that Tyre would be never found.
