‘As for the promise which I made with you when you came out of Egypt, My Spirit stands [firm and immovable] and continues with you; do not fear!’ (Haggai 2:5)
Under the Old Covenant the Holy Spirit was with the people. Under the New Covenant He would be in God’s people.
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Prayer
fill my house with (Your) glory and splendor (Haggai 2:7)
‘The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the Lord of hosts. ‘The latter [c]glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘and in this place I shall give [the ultimate] peace and prosperity,’ declares the Lord of hosts.” (Haggai 2:8-9)
When God declares that the silver and gold are His, He is simply asserting His sovereignty and title to the earth's resources as the creator and owner.
God declares in Psalm 50:10 "For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills."
Psalm 24:1 tells us "The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
The above verses make it plainly clear that men are not the true owners of the resources of this earth but only stewards of God’s resources.
