“And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house. (Acts 7:9-10)
God was with him - Emmanuel. It was not Joseph’s intellectual capacities that delivered Joseph from his troubles, it was the fact that God was with him.
“This Moses whom they rejected, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush. (Acts 7:35)
When the rejected meet the Lord, their story will change. This Moses whom they rejected is the very one God sent to be a ruler and deliverer by the hand of the Angel.
who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.” (Acts 7:53)
Angels were involved in the giving of the law
“And he knelt down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge,” (Acts 7:60).
It was a remarkable work of grace in the human heart when The Holy Spirit enabled Stephen to love those who stoned him.
Many wives have birthed the salvation of their husbands because of the love of The Holy Spirit within them. Thousands of rebellious teenagers have been drawn back home like a magnet to a loving parent because of the love of the Holy Spirit. Only the Holy Spirit could plant this kind of love inside a human heart.
But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” (Acts 7:55-56)
The anointing can increase so strongly that you can see events occurring in the next world. The anointing was so powerful upon Stephen that he saw into the heavens.
Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep,” (Acts 7:57-60).
The anointing can infuriate others and provoke an attack toward you like it happened with Stephen.
