God is always right (Romans 2:2 TPT)
There have been times in my life when I have questioned God about the way things took place. But then one thing I have realized is that, “God is always right”
the goodness of God leads you to repentance (Romans 2:4)
Peter fell down before the Lord and cried saying, “Depart from me for I am a sinful man”. He said this after he saw the miraculous catch of fish. God’s kindness is intended to turn us away from our sin.
The Passion translation says it in this manner:
Do you realize that all the wealth of his extravagant kindness is meant to melt your heart and lead you into repentance? (Romans 2:4 TPT)
For there is no partiality with God. (Romans 2:11)
God is not partial to anyone. He is impartial. Some ancient rabbis taught that God showed partiality towards the Jews. They said: “God will judge the Gentiles with one measure and the Jews with another.”
who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) (Romans 2:15)
Actually, the Gentiles had “the work of the law written in their hearts” (Rom. 2:15). Wherever you go, you find people with an inner sense of right and wrong, and this inner judge, the Bible calls “conscience.” You find among all cultures a sense of sin, a fear of judgment, and an attempt to atone for sins and appease whatever gods are feared.
A good conscience is essential to faith. Without a good conscience, our faith is made shipwrecked (1 Timothy 1:19). A good conscience produces confidence (1John 3:21 and Hebrews 10:35). An evil conscience condemns us (1John 3:20).
in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. (Romans 2:16)
God not only judges according to truth (Romans 2:2), and according to men’s deeds (Romans 2:6), but He also judges “the secrets of men” (Romans 2:16) according to the gospel.
You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? (Romans 2:21)
The principle here is: When you teach others you are also teaching yourself
For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; (Romans 2:28)
The early Jews had ignored the circumcision of the heart and had focused all their attention on the flesh (1 Samuel 16:7). Apostle Paul was clarifying that it is the condition of the heart--not the flesh--that makes someone a child of God.
a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people. (Romans 2:29)
