Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1)
Having been justified by faith
"justified" - is a word that many do not fully understand. Basically, it means "to count someone righteous." It means "to reckon, to account, to judge, to treat, or to look upon as righteous." It does not mean to make righteous! It does mean that we are treated like we were righteous.
Justification does not mean that God is not aware of our sins. It does mean that in spite of our sins, God treats us as though we were not sinners. Even though we are unrighteous and wicked, God treats us as though we were as righteous and pure as He is Himself.
How is this possible?
It happens because when the Lord Jesus died on the cross, He paid for ALL of our sins. Then when we receive Him as our Savior, God gives us the righteousness of Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:21. Justification does not mean that we are perfect, it just means that God sees us as though we were!
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
There are three types of peace
Peace of God – Peace that passes all understanding
Peace in God – the peace that I get in His Presence, that’s why I am a worshipper
Peace with God – That carnal nature that was in enmity with God now through the blood of Jesus becomes at peace with God
through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:2)
Grace is available to every Christian. However, It takes an act of faith to access the grace given to us in Christ. Faith is your access key to grace, to the supernatural and to everything that Lord Jesus has set aside for you.
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance (patient endurance); and perseverance (Patient endurance), character; and character, hope. (Romans 5:3-4)
There is a purpose for our tribulation. Scripture tells us that tribulation will develop in us patient endurance. And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope.
We can rejoice in tribulation, knowing that regardless of what the devil does, we will win and reap the spoils of victory.
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (Romans 5:5)
The remedy for doubt about God’s love for us is not an argument but an experience of it. God gives an experience of the love of God. This experience of the love of God is poured out through the Holy Spirit into our hearts.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:7-8)
One story of people sacrificing their lives for others comes from the RMS Titanic. 35 or more engineering staff remained aboard the RMS Titanic’s to maintain its electrical power while it was sinking. By keeping the liner’s lights on, they helped to reduce panic among passengers while enabling the wireless officers to send distress signals to nearby ships. This has happened many times in history.
However, history has no single example of man or woman sacrificing their lives for their enemies. And yet that was exactly what God did (Romans 5:10).
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12)
Just as we inherit our parent's physical characteristics independent of our actions. So also, we inherit our sinful nature from Adam. David wrote, "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me" (Psalm 51:5).
Now, this does not imply that his mother bore him illegitimately; rather, his mother had inherited a sin nature from her parents, and they from their parents, and so on.
