Deliverance
Again the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years. (Judges 13:1)
Again
It had become a matter of habit for the children of Israel to do evil.
did evil in the sight of the LORD
It as their evil actions made the LORD deliver them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years. However, the opposite is also true; right actions would also make the LORD deliver them out of the hand of the Philistines.
Angel's released in response to prayer
Then Manoah prayed to the LORD, and said, "O my Lord, please let the Man of God whom You sent come to us again and teach us what we shall do for the child who will be born." (Judges 13:8)
Notice Manoah did not pray to the angel but to the Lord. There are many who pray to angels instead of praying to the Lord.
Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? (Matthew 26:53)
If Lord Jesus had to pray to the Father to provide Him, angels, for protection, how can we directly pray to angels to come to our rescue?
A Prophetic Instruction
Now, therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean. (Judges 13:4)
After receiving the word from the Lord, the woman had to take care to fulfil certain conditions. Many conveniently ignore this part.
Old Testament Appearance of Christ
And the Angel of the LORD said to him, "Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?" (Judges 13:18)
One of the names of the lord is wonderful (Isaiah 9:6). The name of the Lord is not just a name. The name carries his very character. In this case, the name was wonderful.
So Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering and offered it upon the rock to the LORD. And He did a wondrous thing while Manoah and his wife looked on- it happened as the flame went up toward heaven from the altar-the Angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar! When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground. (Judges 13:19-20)
Every time a sign and a wonder takes place, the name wonderful is being manifested.
Common Sense
But his wife said to him, "If the LORD had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have told us such things as these at this time." (Judges 13:23)
