7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 10…. to another different kinds of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:7,10)
Scripture clearly tells us, there are different kinds of tongues. Someone said, “Different kinds of Tongues will make you a different person.” So very true!
The six types of tongues are as follows :
1. Tongues of Men
2. Tongues of Angels
3. Tongues of worship
4. Unknown tongues
5. Gift of Tongues
6. Prophetic tongues
Since there are different kinds of tongues, it is very imperative that a Christian seek to understand the varieties of tongues, and how we can use them for edification of the body of Christ.
1.Tongues of Men
“Though I speak with the tongues of men… (1 Corinthians 13:1)
This is what happened in the Book of Acts 2:4 -12
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?
9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”
When the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles on the day of Pentecost, they began to speak in new Tongues. The Jews who had assembled for the Feast had come to Jerusalem from different parts of the world. They heard the disciples speaking to them in their own native language.
These were not common tongues, but tongues of men spoken by those who do not speak the language or are not familiar with the language. This is the reason that those in Jerusalem were taken by surprise when they heard the disciples declaring the wonders of God in their own native language. About fifteen languages were used.

Confession
The manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all. In the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I will speak with different kinds of tongues.
