Accessing the Miraculous through Thanksgiving
“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim Your unfailing love in the morning, Your faithfulness in the evening… You thrill me, LORD, with all You have done for me! I sing for joy because of what You have done.”
— Psalm 92:1–4
Thanksgiving is an act of appreciation—an expression of heartfelt gratitude for what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will yet do. Scripture clearly declares that giving thanks to God is a good thing (Psalm 92:1). Any believer who ignores this truth is at a spiritual disadvantage.
Thanksgiving, praise, and worship are deeply connected. When a believer begins to give thanks, the Holy Spirit often leads them into praise, and from praise into worship. Thanksgiving is a spiritual act, not a mental one. This is why the Holy Spirit can easily take over and carry you into deeper realms of encounter as you give thanks.
Why People Don’t Thank God
Many believers fail to thank God the way they should. Here are some common reasons:
1. They Don’t Think Deeply (Psalm 103:2)
Where there is no deep thinking, there will be no deep thanksgiving. Meditation produces appreciation.
What should we think about?
- Think about what God has done for you.
- Think about where He picked you from.
- Think about the difficult seasons where He strengthened you.
- Think about the times He saved you from death, accidents, and evil.
- Think about His love toward you.
- Think about what He is currently doing in your life.
- Think about what He is about to do.
When you meditate on these things, thanksgiving, praise, and worship will flow naturally.
You must also thank Him in advance for the things you have prayed for.
2. Achievement and Possession
Some believe their achievements are the product of their own strength. When you see God as your source and the strength of your life, gratitude is natural. But if you believe your hard labour alone produced your results, gratitude becomes difficult.
Nebuchadnezzar made this mistake:
“By my own mighty power, I have built this beautiful city…”
— Daniel 4:30
Because of pride and ingratitude, judgment came immediately (Daniel 4:29–30, 33).
3. Ignorance of the Breath of Life
Every breath you take is a gift from God.
“Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD!”
— Psalm 150:6
Being alive is enough reason to thank God.
4. They Don’t Recognize God as the Source of Every Good Thing
Every good and perfect gift in your life comes from above.
“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift… from God our Father.”
— James 1:17
Nothing good reaches you unless God permits it.
5. They Want More
Many fail to thank God because they are focused on what they don’t yet have. But thanksgiving opens the door for more.
“…be content.”
— 1 Timothy 6:6–8
6. They Compare Themselves With Others
Comparison blinds you to your own blessings.
“…comparing themselves with one another… How ignorant!”
— 2 Corinthians 10:12
Miraculous Blessings Attached to Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is not ordinary it is a powerful spiritual force that unlocks miracles.
1. Thanksgiving Perfects Your Blessing
It completes what God has started.
(See Luke 17:17–19; Philippians 1:6)
2. Thanksgiving Qualifies You for More
What you thank God for multiplies.
3. Thanksgiving Invokes God’s Power in Impossible Situations
Jesus thanked God before Lazarus was raised.
(John 11:41–44)
4. Thanksgiving Attracts God’s Presence and Drives Demons Away
A thankful environment is inhospitable to demons.
5. Thanksgiving Gives You Access to God’s Courtroom
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving…”
— Psalm 100:4
Thanksgiving is the legal entry point into God’s presence.
6. Thanksgiving Triggers Divine Favour
“…having favour with all the people…”
— Acts 2:47
Favour follows gratitude.
7. Thanksgiving Completes Prayer
Prayer without thanksgiving is incomplete.
Jesus mixed thanksgiving with His prayer before Lazarus came forth (John 11:41–44).
8. Thanksgiving Places You in God’s Perfect Will
“…this is the will of God…”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Only those who walk in God’s will enjoy the blessings of His will (Hebrews 10:36).
Complaining attracted judgment for Israel many times. satan wants you to complain so he can push you out of God’s will.
9. Thanksgiving Strengthens Your Faith
Abraham’s faith grew stronger as he gave glory to God.
(Romans 4:20–22)
Thanksgiving accelerates manifestation.
10. Thanksgiving Reverses Negative Situations
Jonah gave thanks inside the belly of the fish and God commanded the fish to vomit him out.
(Jonah 2:7–10)
11. Thanksgiving Guarantees Miraculous Victory
Judah won a supernatural battle through praise.
(2 Chronicles 20:22–24)
12. Thanksgiving Produces Multiplication

(John 6:10–13)

Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises—and the foundations of the prison shook.
(Acts 16:25–26)
Remember
No matter what you are going through, engage thanksgiving, praise, and worship. These forces carry spiritual power and provoke divine intervention.
May your heart overflow with gratitude,
May your eyes open to the miraculous power of thanksgiving,
And may you walk in continual victory, in Jesus’ name.
