God Has Trusted You With a Mina

Lord Jesus told a parable about a master who gave his servants a mina. A mina was a small amount of money. It may not have seemed like much, but it was valuable. In the same way, God has placed something valuable in every believer gifts, abilities, time, influence, or opportunities.

When the master returned, one servant said,“Master, your mina has earned ten more.” (Luke 19:16)
Another said, “Master, your mina has earned five more.” (Luke 19:18)

Both servants had taken what was given to them and worked with it.

Faithful in Small Things

Each servant received only one mina, not much. Yet the master judged them not by how much they were given, but by how faithful they were with it.

Jesus teaches this same truth again:

“Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.”(Luke 16:10)

God watches how we handle small everyday responsibilities. Faithfulness in little things shows that we can be trusted with greater things.

Faithfulness Leads to Authority

The rewards were powerful. The servant who gained ten minas was told:

“Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, take charge of ten cities.” (Luke 19:17)

The one who gained five minas was given authority over five cities. Just imagine that!!

This shows us a kingdom principle: faithfulness produces authority. When God sees that we use what He gives us well, He expands our territory of influence.

Excellence Matters to God

One translation says:

“Splendid! You have done well, my excellent servant.” (Luke 19:17, TPT)

There is a difference between just being a servant and being an excellent servant. An excellent servant serves with heart, care, and commitment.

The Bible encourages this attitude:

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” (Colossians 3:23)

God values excellence because it reflects His nature and brings Him glory and honour.

Use What God Has Given You

Every one of us has been given something by God. The Bible says:

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)

Your mina could be a skill, a resource, your time, your voice, or even kindness and encouragement. God expects us to use it, not hide it.

When we serve God faithfully, we are prepared for greater use:

“Those who cleanse themselves… will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared for every good work.”
(2 Timothy 2:21)

What we do today matters for eternity. The seeds of faithfulness we sow now will grow into influence, authority, and joy in God’s Kingdom.

A Simple Question

What is your mina?

Whatever God has placed in your hands use it well. As you are faithful in the small things, God will trust you with much more.
