The Unchanging Truth

Finding solid ground in a world full of opinions can feel like trying to stand on shifting sand. Today, we often hear people say, "Live your truth." While being honest about your feelings is good, there is a big difference between a personal opinion and an absolute reality.

The Myth of "Personal Truth"

The idea that truth changes from person to person is a popular one, but it’s actually a trap. If everyone has their own version of what is right, then nothing is truly right. The Bible offers a different perspective. It tells us that truth isn't something we invent; it is something we discover.

In 2 Timothy 3:16-17- NLT, we read:

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work."

This means the Bible isn't just a book of suggestions. It is a "God-breathed" guidebook designed to keep us on the right track, regardless of how popular trends change.

Human feelings go up and down like the weather, but God’s nature is steady.

James 1:17 -CSB explains:

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."

Think of a lighthouse. It doesn't move just because the waves are high. In the same way, God’s Word provides a fixed point of reference. While the world struggles with "shifting shadows" of morality, the Bible remains a constant light.

Feelings Can Be Deceptive

Our experiences are real, but they aren't always reliable. We’ve all felt sure about something only to find out later we were wrong. This is why following our "gut" can sometimes lead us into trouble.

Proverbs 14:12 -NKJV gives us a serious warning:

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death."

This explains that just because something feels right in the moment doesn’t mean it is safe. We need to check our feelings against God’s Word to see if we are actually headed in the right direction.

The Path to Real Freedom

Many people think "truth" is a set of restrictive rules. However, Lord Jesus taught the exact opposite. In

John 8:32 -ESV, He says:

"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

This isn't just a nice quote; it’s a promise. When we stop trying to carry the burden of creating our own rules and instead follow God's design, a weight is lifted.

Galatians 5:1 - NIV reinforces this:

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Real freedom isn't the ability to do whatever we want; it’s the power to live how we were meant to live free from the mistakes and confusion that come from following our own flawed logic.

Anchoring Your Life

The Bible is described in Hebrews 4:12 as "living and active." It is like a mirror that shows us who we really are and a compass that shows us where to go. Instead of getting lost in the "your truth" and "my truth" talk, we can find peace in The Truth. It is the only thing that provides the clarity and direction our souls are looking for.
