Quite recently, I received an email from a young boy who had been bullied throughout his school days simply because he believed in Jesus. He lived in a part of North India where not many people were Christians.
Over time, this constant rejection planted a dangerous belief in his heart that Christians are meant to live a life of misery and suffering.
By the time he reached college, this belief had taken deep root. He withdrew into a shell. His confidence dropped. His academic performance suffered badly.
Sadly, his story is not unique. Many people silently carry such beliefs.
The Danger
Many of our beliefs are not based on the truth of God’s Word. Instead, they are shaped by painful experiences, rejection, failure, or what others have spoken over us.
This is why you and I must study God’s Word daily.
Simple tools like Daily Manna or the Bible commentary on the Noah App can be a good starting point.
If we do not fill our minds with truth, lies will take over without us even realising it.
The Transforming Power
The Bible says:
“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit… It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” — Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)
Notice this carefully the Word of God exposes what is inside us.
It shines light on our thoughts.
It shows us:
- What is true and what is false
- What is right and what is wrong
- What is from God and what is not
This may sound simple, but it is absolutely crucial for your life.
Step One: Uprooting the Lies
The first work of God’s Word is to remove wrong beliefs.
It begins to tell you:
- You are not stupid
- You are not inferior
- You are not ugly
- You are not the “black sheep”
These are lies planted by people and circumstances not by God.
Step Two: Replacing with Truth
The second work of God’s Word is even more powerful it replaces those lies with truth.
It reveals who you really are:
- You are loved
- You are accepted
- You are forgiven
It shows you who you belong to a loving, faithful, and powerful God.
It reminds you that His promises for your life are still standing firm and unshaken.
You Were Designed to Rise
Never stop studying His Word.
Because the more you read, the more clearly you will see:
You were not created to live in defeat.
You were designed to be victorious.
You were created to rise in your thoughts, in your confidence, in your purpose, and in every area of your life.
And when truth fills your heart,
No lie will be able to hold you back.
