“A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” (Proverbs 18:16)
Every person carries a gift from God. That gift has the power to open doors, create opportunities, and position you before influential people. However, a gift alone is not enough. A gift without preparation remains hidden, unused, and ineffective.
A Picture of Wasted Potential
Imagine for a moment that your best friend had been born with the skills to be the world’s greatest athlete or soccer player. He even received prophetic words from men and women of God that it was God’s will for him to be a world-class athlete or a world-famous soccer player.
Now picture him spending the majority of his teenage and college years sitting on a couch, playing video games or watching cricket matches.
By the time he reaches his “thirty-something” years, all he has are wishes and sighs. Somehow, “destiny” seems to have been missed, and regrets now dominate his life.
Was anything missing? No. Only one element seems to be missing from this picture Preparation.
The Hidden Years of Apostle Paul
Many consider Apostle Paul to be one of the greatest apostles who ever lived. But what made Paul’s ministry so powerful and impactful?
The secret was his preparation after his conversion.
“After I had this encounter (with Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus), I kept it a secret for some time, sharing it with no one. And I chose not to run to Jerusalem to try to impress those who had become apostles before me. Instead, I went away into the Arabian Desert for a season.” (Galatians 1:16–17)
This scripture reveals something profound. Immediately after his dramatic encounter with Christ, Paul did not rush into public ministry. He withdrew.
The Bible tells us that Paul went into Arabia. Many Bible scholars suggest that he spent around three years there seeking the Lord, studying the Scriptures, and growing in revelation.
These were not wasted years. They were investment years.
It was during this hidden season that the Lord began to reveal deep spiritual truths to Paul truths that still impact the Church today.
When Paul finally stepped into ministry, he did not speak from human intellect. He spoke from divine revelation. That is why his words carried power, authority, and transformation. He literally shook nations for the Lord.
Preparation Produces Power
In life, we often admire people who rise from difficult backgrounds especially from rural India who achieve great success despite overwhelming odds.
Some may say they were simply “lucky.”
But the truth is: There is no such thing as luck.
It is when preparation meets destiny that favour is produced.
Behind every visible success is an invisible season of preparation hours of discipline, sacrifice, learning, and growth.
Success Is a Process, Not an Event
True success is not a one-day event. It is not something that suddenly appears.
True success is the result of a process a journey that involves consistent preparation.
Every great moment you see publicly was first built privately.
So the real question is:
Are you preparing for your day of favour?
We must learn to follow the example of Apostle Paul and value quiet, intimate time alone with God.
In a world that celebrates noise, visibility, and instant results, God often works in silence. It is in these hidden moments that He shapes character, builds strength, and imparts wisdom.
These quiet seasons prepare us both spiritually and mentally for the calling ahead.
Your Calling Begins with Preparation
Perhaps the Lord has a great ministry for you.
Perhaps a business.
Maybe you are destined to be a great musician, a great athlete, or a leader in your field.
Whatever your calling may be, it begins with one foundational principle Preparation.
Do not wait for the opportunity to come before you start preparing.
Start now.
Start where you are.
Start with what you have.
Because when preparation meets opportunity, destiny is fulfilled.
Your future is not determined only by your gift it is shaped by your preparation.
Start preparing today. Your day of favour is closer than you think.
