Speak in Tongues and Make Progress

The Apostle Jude gives us a profound instruction in Epistle of Jude 20:

“But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith… praying in the Holy Spirit.”

This is not a suggestion it is a spiritual strategy. A divine system for growth, strength, and elevation.

Rising Like a Spiritual Edifice

The Amplified expression gives us a striking picture“rise like an edifice higher and higher.”

An edifice is not something small or hidden. It is visible, prominent, impossible to ignore. When you pray in the Spirit, something begins to happen within you:

Your inner man is strengthened
Your spiritual stature increases
Your influence begins to rise

You don’t struggle for recognition your growth makes room for you.

Just as no one looks down to see a tall building, your life begins to command attention in the spirit and in the natural. You grow to a point where your presence carries weight whether in ministry, business, or any sphere God has placed you in.

A Structure That Can Hold the Anointing

This “edifice” is not physical it is a spiritual structure.

And here is the key insight:

God does not pour His oil into weak, unprepared vessels.

In Second Book of Kings 4:1–7, the prophet Elisha instructs a widow to gather vessels and pour out the little oil she has. The miracle is remarkable:

The oil kept flowing
The supply did not stop
It only ceased when there were no more vessels

This reveals a powerful truth:

The limitation was never the oil it was the capacity of the vessels.Imagine if she had gathered more. The flow would have continued.Even today, heaven is not lacking in supply. God is still searching for vessels that can carry what He wants to release.

Praying in Tongues Increases Capacity

When you pray in the Spirit, you are not just speaking mysteries you are building capacity.

You are strengthening your inner structure
You are expanding your ability to carry God’s presence
You are preparing yourself for greater dimensions of the anointing

Many desire more of God, but few prepare the vessel to hold more.Praying in tongues is God’s divine method of enlargement.

Spiritual Recharge: Power from Within

The word “edifies” can also be understood like charging a battery.

Think of it this way:

When a device is low on power, it cannot function effectively
But once charged, it operates at full capacity

In the same way, praying in the Spirit recharges your spirit man.You may feel drained, weak, or overwhelmed but as you begin to pray in tongues:

Strength returns
Clarity increases
Faith rises

It is a supernatural energy source that does not depend on circumstances.

Dealing with Weaknesses and Character Flaws

Every believer faces areas of weakness habits, struggles, inner battles.

The natural instinct is to fight these externally. But Scripture reveals a deeper approach:

Build yourself up.

When you pray in tongues:

There is an internal cleansing taking place
Your spirit gains dominance over the flesh
Wrong patterns begin to lose their hold

It is not merely behavior modification it is spiritual transformation from within. Like fire refining gold, the Spirit of God works through your yielded prayer life to purge, align, and strengthen you.

Become the Vessel God Is Looking For

The question is not whether God wants to pour He does.

The question is:

Are you becoming the vessel that can receive?

Praying in the Holy Spirit is how you:

Grow beyond limitation
Increase your spiritual capacity
Rise into a dimension where your life cannot be ignored

A Call to Action

Start where you are.

Even if it is for a few minutes daily, begin to pray in the Spirit intentionally. As you continue:

You will rise like an edifice
You will be strengthened inwardly
You will become a vessel that carries the oil of God

And one day, people will look at your life and wonder,

“What changed?”

What they cannot see is this:

You built yourself up… one prayer at a time.
