"We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain." — 2 Corinthians 6:1
There are moments in life when we seem to hit rock bottom when all that remains are questions, confusion, disappointment, and frustration. At such times, the natural tendency is to rely on our own strength or understanding. Yet this is precisely when God invites us to do something different.
Hebrews 4:16 gives us the divine response:
"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Carefully notice the words obtain and find. Grace is not merely a theological concept to admire; it is a divine provision to be received and experienced. God invites us to come to Him so that we may draw from His inexhaustible supply.
Prayer
The early church experienced such a season of crisis in the book of Acts.
The Bible tells us:
"Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church." (Acts 12:1)
Herod launched a wave of severe persecution. James was executed, and Peter was imprisoned, awaiting trial and likely execution. Fear, grief, and uncertainty filled the hearts of the believers.
Yet instead of surrendering to despair, the church gathered together and prayed earnestly.
Prayer is the process through which we draw upon the grace of God.
As they continued to seek Him, God's grace was released in a supernatural way. An angel was sent to deliver Peter from prison. Their dependence upon God's grace provoked divine intervention.
When we draw from God's grace, it opens the door for the supernatural.
In the same way, every believer has been called to labour together with God. God is never unfaithful to His part of the covenant. He has already supplied His grace.
Every person who has placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ has received a measure of God's grace.
That grace was never intended to remain dormant. It is a divine resource from which we are meant to continually draw for every aspect of life and ministry.
Grace Replaced Performance
Throughout the Old Testament, God's people lived under laws and ceremonial requirements that continually reminded them of their inability to attain righteousness by themselves.
Then Christ came.
Through His once-for-all sacrifice, He accomplished what no amount of religious effort could ever achieve. We are no longer called to spend our lives striving to satisfy countless religious regulations. Instead, we have been invited to live by the supernatural empowerment that Christ provides.
Grace has been given to us through Jesus Christ so that we may live the very life of God.
Living the Life of the Spirit
The Scriptures describe this as the life of the Spirit a life directed, empowered, and sustained by the Holy Spirit.
The Christian life was never designed to be lived through human ability. It can only be lived through divine enablement.
Therefore, continually draw from God's grace, for it is the sure way to remain in His sufficiency.
The Bible declares:
"By strength no man shall prevail." (1 Samuel 2:9)
It also reminds us:
"He gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6)
Do you find yourself struggling to obey God's commands? Are you weary from trying to overcome sin or fulfil His will through your own efforts?
Perhaps you have been attempting to live the spiritual life through human wisdom and natural strength.
But God's invitation remains the same.
If you humble yourself, depend fully upon His grace, and continually run to Him, He is faithful and just (1 John 1:9) to forgive, restore, strengthen, and help you.
Today, determine to make God's grace the fuel that sustains your walk with Him.
The well of grace has never run dry.
Will you draw from it today?
The structure now guides the reader naturally from need, to prayer, to grace, to practical application while retaining your original voice and biblical emphasis.
