The 7 Spirits of God
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, (Revelation 1:4)
Notice the peculiar phrase, “…the seven Spirits who are before His throne”
There is only One Spirit – The Holy Spirit.
Seven is a number that always stands for completeness or perfection in Biblical symbolism. The number ‘Seven’ refers to the fullness of the Holy Spirit powers and His various activities or ministries to the Christian.
The Bible says “Joseph had a coat of many colors” given to him by his father Jacob. (Genesis 37:3). Bible scholars agree that this coat was symbolic of the mantle of the Holy Spirit. Joseph was a type of Christ in the Old Testament. Now here is Lord Jesus wearing the coat of many colors; the mantle of the Holy Spirit given to Him by His Heavenly Father.
Now prophet Isaiah prophetically speaking of Christ in Isaiah 11:2 clearly tells about the seven distinct ministries of the Holy Spirit:
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, 2 The Spirit of wisdom and 3 understanding, 4The Spirit of counsel and 5 might, 6The Spirit of knowledge and 7 of the fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:2)
1. Spirit of the Lord
2. Spirit of Wisdom
3. Spirit of Understanding
4. Spirit of Counsel
5. Spirit of might
6. Spirit of Knowledge
7. Spirit of the Fear of the Lord
“The Seven Spirits of God” are the Seven ‘Attributes’ of the Holy Spirit. These also refer to the fullness of the Spirit. This fullness of the Spirit rested upon Lord Jesus. As a prism can reflect the seven different colors forming light, so also our Lord manifested all the diverse, yet unified operations of the Spirit.
Everywhere I go throughout this nation and to some parts of the world. I see the same Holy Spirit minister in different ways to different people. To some He ministers in might - they are healed, delivered etc. To some He ministers wisdom, to some understanding. If you want to receive the ‘Fullness’ of “The Seven Spirits of God”, all you have to do is ask. (Read Luke 11:13)
Confession
In the name of Jesus, the Spirit of the Lord is resting upon me, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord are in me.
My delight is in the fear of the Lord, and I shall not judge by the sight of my eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of my ears; (Isaiah 11:2-3)
My delight is in the fear of the Lord, and I shall not judge by the sight of my eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of my ears; (Isaiah 11:2-3)
