21 Days Fast: Day #8

“Honor your father and mother,” (Ephesians 6:2)

The word Honor in the Greek language is “to esteem and value as precious”.

The Bible specifically commands us to honor our earthly father and mother.

We live in a generation that is so much high on technology and knowledge but so much low on honor. I am sure many of you will agree with me on this. The Bible prophetically speaks of such a generation.

There is a generation that curses its father and does not bless its mother. (Proverbs 30:11)

which is the first commandment with promise:(What does God promise)

“that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6:2-3)

The Bible is not a book of poverty but it is a book of prosperity. Just as you and I want our children to be blessed and prosper in the same manner God our Father wants His children (that’s us) to prosper in all things and be in health just as our soul prospers. (3 John 2).

Poverty does not bring God glory but prosperity brings God glory. No wonder He delights in our prosperity (Psalm 35:27)

I want you to notice two important things

that it may be well with you (prosperity)

and you may live long on the earth (a sickness free life, a healthy life)

You cannot enjoy your prosperity if you don't have a healthy body - That’s balance. The Bible clearly states that you can enjoy both these things when you do one thing - honor your father and mother.

[Spend some time on the following prayer points. Do not rush]

Point #1

Lord forgive me if I have dishonored my parents in any manner.

Lord, I thank You for my parents (my father and my mother).

Point #2

If your relationship with your parents is strained or broken, pray for repentance, forgiveness, and the reconciliation that is needed.

Point #3

If you have not been supporting your parents, decide to support them with at least something small. Send them a gift which will show honor. (Please don't neglect this part as many do)

In the Old Testament book of Malachi 4:5-6 God said, “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

When we examine this Scripture closely, we realize that God has attached great value and significance to the relationship between a father and his children.

Point #4

Ask Your Parents to Bless You

If it is possible, then ask your parents to bless you.

If you are a parent then call your children and bless them. Do this, as often as you can. (If they are grown up and they feel awkward. do this while they are asleep)

Point #5

Pray for Others

Now pray for someone you know who is also in need of a financial miracle.

Pray for all people who are part of this 21 Day Prayer Program to be blessed financially and prosper. (Spend some time on this at least 7 mins or more as the Lord leads you)

And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. (Job 42:10)

Point #6

Pray in Tongues

Pray in tongues for at least 10 mins. You could do this even as you listen to a worship song.

If you don't have the gift of tongues, then spend time praising and worshipping him for 10 mins.

Point #7

Remember, your prosperity is for a reason - to build the Kingdom of God.

Send a generous offering to the Karuna Sadan ministry or the ministry that has blessed you and is currently blessing you.
