Grief
After prayer, as I went to bed one night, I received a frantic call from one of our team member's daughter, "Pastor, please pray; my dada is sinking; doctors have given up hope." I was shell-shocked and went on my knees to pray in desperation. Then the call came announcing the worst, "Pastor, dada is no more."
Just the other day, I met this wonderful brother and his family, what a wonderful fellowship we had. This brother and I loved books and music, and we could go on and on. And now to hear that he was no more – I just could not take it. Even today, I sorely miss him.
John 11:35 tells us, "Jesus wept"
Jesus, too had to deal with the death of people he loved. How comforting it is to know that just as Jesus wept over his friend Lazarus, He also weeps with us in our grief.
It is also in such moments that we realize how fragile and fleeting life is. Scripture reminds us of this truth:
"All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,
But the word of the Lord endures forever." (1 Peter 1:24-25)
At the same time, we must not forget that our life on this earth is short, but our life in Christ is eternal.
Things on this earth are passing away. We have got to hold on to what will stand in eternity. We need to live life with eternity in mind. Take an inventory of your time and how you spend it.
Look at one of the commitments the Psalmist made: "I will praise the Lord while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I still have my being. (Psalm 146:2) Spend time daily worshipping the Lord, for He alone is God. One day, we all will see Him face to face.

Prayer
Father, I thank You for the gift of life. I also thank You for the free gift of salvation that Jesus purchased for me. Help me to live each day with eternity in mind. In Jesus' name.
Blessed Holy Spirit, You are indeed our comforter. Comfort everyone who is hurt, in pain and mourning.
