In Revelation 19:10, the apostle John says, "For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." This means that when we share our testimony, we are also releasing the spirit of prophecy into the atmosphere.
The testimony of Jesus refers to a spoken or written record of anything God has done in our lives, while the spirit of prophecy is the anointing that is prophetic in nature and can either foretell a future event or change an immediate one.
The word "testimony" comes from a root word that means "do again". Every time a testimony is spoken, it comes with God's covenant to repeat the miracle. This is why sharing our testimony is so important. Not only does it give glory to God and inspire others, but it also creates an atmosphere for the miracle to be duplicated.
When we share our testimony, we are also activating the spirit of prophecy. In 1 Corinthians 14:3 AMP, Apostle Paul says, "But [on the other hand] the one who prophesies speaks to people for edification [to promote their spiritual growth] and [speaks words of] encouragement [to uphold and advise them concerning the matters of God] and [speaks words of] consolation [to compassionately comfort them]." When we share our testimony, we are not only encouraging others, but we are also prophesying over them. We are speaking life and hope into their situation.
Mona (name changed) had been struggling with infertility for years. She and her husband had tried everything, from fertility treatments to adoption, but nothing seemed to work. She was feeling hopeless and defeated.
One day, Mona attended the WOW Service at Karuna Sadan. During the service, a woman shared her testimony of how God had healed her of infertility. The woman spoke of how she had attended a Sunday service, heard the word and believed in God's promise to give her children, and how she eventually became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Mona was moved by the woman's testimony and felt a glimmer of hope in her heart. During the service, she cried out to God. After the service, she approached the woman and thanked her for sharing her testimony.
A few months later, Mona discovered that she was pregnant. She was carrying twins. She couldn't believe it! She knew that God had answered her prayers and had used the woman's testimony to strengthen her faith. In Ephesians 3:20, the bible says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”
The sharing of testimonies is a powerful way to build faith.
In Romans 10:17 NIV, Paul says, "Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ." When we hear testimonies of what God has done in the lives of others, our faith is strengthened. We are reminded that God is still at work in the world today and that He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word, which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. I thank You for the power you have invested in a testimony, strengthening our faith and encouraging us to keep trusting in You. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give us the courage to share my testimony wherever I go. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
