Developing Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit

When we take the time and effort to cultivate sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, we will hear and see things in the realm of the Spirit that others cannot pick up. Instead of good opportunities, we will have “God opportunities” come to us that, when acted upon, will cause our lives to bear abundant fruit, thereby demonstrating that we are His mature disciples (John 15:8 TPT)

Here are some significant keys to developing sensitivity to the Holy Spirit

1. Pray in the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 14:14 (Amplified): For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit by the Holy Spirit within me prays, but my mind is unproductive; it bears no fruit and helps nobody.

You see, the Holy Spirit resides in my spirit. His first contact with my human person is not with my mind but with my spirit. Praying in tongues regularly helps me stay sensitive to my human spirit. And since the Holy Spirit is in my spirit, I become sensitive to Him too by praying in tongues.

2. Ask God for that sensitivity to His heart

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)

There are many things you can get simply by asking. Many times, we have not because we ask not (James 4:3).

3. Spend time with Him

Any relationship demands a time investment. Intimacy with God is a matter of priority. What do you value most in life? You might need to reorder your day, learn some time management skills, shut off your smartphone for periods of time, and determine to press in. You are responsible for your time, and every change starts with a quality decision.

4. Practice the presence of God

Cultivate an awareness of His presence. Talk to Him throughout the day. Ask Him for guidance, grace and whatever else you need. Thank Him, praise Him, glorify Him in your heart. Pray before you eat or drink anything. Pray before you drive etc. This will shape your thoughts and your life.

5. Pursue Holiness

and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. (Romans 1:4)

Notice, He is referred to as the ‘Spirit of Holiness’. If you want to attract the Holy Spirit into your life, you need to consecrate yourself more and more. Cut out the activities that don’t please Him or edify you. Don’t purposely do things that grieve Him. If you truly love someone, wouldn’t you do that?

”…those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.’ (Romans 8:5)

I remember a prophet of God saying, “If we want to live constantly in touch with the Holy Spirit, then our lifestyle too needs to be compatible with Him. We need to be in harmony with Him.”

Each prayer point must be prayed at least for 3 minutes and more

Personal Spiritual Growth

Father, I pray that everyone who comes in contact with me shall experience the power of Your Spirit through me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen. (Keep praying this throughout the day)

Family Salvation

Father, I thank you for the grace of salvation, thank you Father for sending your son Jesus to die for our sins. Father, in the name of Jesus, grant (Mention the name of the loved one) revelation in the knowledge of You. Open their eyes to know You as Lord and Saviour

Financial Breakthrough

Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You for a financial breakthrough to fulfill my calling. You are the great Restorer.

Father, cause all the Pastors, Group Supervisors and J-12 leaders of KSM to grow in Your Word and prayer. Also, cause every person connected to KSM to grow in Your Word and prayer. In Jesus' name.

Nation

Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for peace at the borders of our nation. We pray for peace and great progress in each and every state of our nation. Destroy every power that hinders Your gospel in our nation. Amen.
