Name of Jesus
The Lord spoke to the nation of Israel, saying, "I have called you by name; you are mine" (Isaiah 43:1-2).
A name identifies and sets a person or a nation apart from the herd.
When the Lord wanted to affirm Aaron's leadership in Israel, He asked the leaders of Israel to bring a rod each and also asked them to inscribe each leader's name on his staff (Numbers 17:1-2). A name is representative of the person, family, or tribe.
When we call someone by his name, we are not just speaking a name; we are declaring something about him. This is why God often chose to change the names of individuals before He could bless them. For example, God changed the name of Abram to Abraham (Father of many nations). God changed the name of Jacob to Israel (prince with God).
In the same way, when we speak the Name of Jesus, we are not just speaking a name; we are declaring a Name that embodies power—not human power, but all the power and authority of God. (Colossians 2:9, 10.)
When we speak the Name, we are describing the Person. Jesus means Saviour, and we are calling Him according to what He does for us—He saves us from sin, from our failures, from our mistakes, and from circumstances that are not in His will. (See Matthew 1:21)
The Bible teaches us that there is no other name that is above the Name of Jesus. It teaches us that at the mention of Jesus' Name every creature must bow, that Jesus' Name has power and authority in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. (Philippians 2:9,10.)
Many years ago, I was invited to conduct a gospel outreach in a small remote village in India. A large crowd had gathered. Some enemies of the gospel too gathered and were planning to disrupt the meeting. The organizers were very nervous because these individuals were shouting bad words and making a bad scene. At that moment, the Lord told me to stop the message and rebuke the powers of the darkness in the name of Jesus. Not knowing what to expect, I obeyed. No sooner did I do this, a woman came running forward saying, "I had a growth in my neck, and it is no longer there." Many knew this woman and confirmed that she indeed had a growth, and now it was not there. The mood of the whole meeting changed. The people who had come to disrupt the meeting too joined the service and later asked for prayer.
When we reverently use the name of Jesus, the power to bless others, the power that brings help for ourselves, is available. I urge you to use the precious name of Jesus. Your situation will bow their knees to that name.

Prayer
Father, In the name of Jesus, I command every situation that is contrary to Your word in my life to bow its knees to the name of Jesus. I give glory and praise to the name of Jesus. Amen.
