Almost everyone starts the year with fresh resolutions and goals. Now there is nothing wrong with making resolutions and goals. However, many goals and resolutions do not reach the finish line. Another fact is that almost everyone makes resolutions that are positive and good.
However, do you know what limits you from achieving your resolutions and goals? It’s your beliefs. What do I mean by beliefs? What you tell yourself is what you really believe on the inside. This can play a big role in how you see the world and how you feel.
What are limiting beliefs?
Limiting beliefs are thoughts, opinions that one believes to be the truth but do not have their foundation in the word of God.
These limiting beliefs are often triggered by events that have happened in the past. These are specific events where you failed, had to suffer humiliation or go through suffering etc.
Lord Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6, NLT). In other words, when you base your beliefs on the teachings of Lord Jesus, those beliefs will supernaturally empower you to achieve the resolutions and goals that you have made.
Lord Jesus also said, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32, NKJV). Knowing this truth makes you free to do what? Again, it will empower you to put those resolutions into practice and achieve your goals.
Personally speaking, at one point there were a lot of things in my life standing in the way of God’s destiny for my life.
This is when I turned to His Word! For me, understanding that God wants to give me the desires of my heart (Psalm 37:4) and joy unspeakable (1 Peter 1:8) and that His plans for me are all good (Jeremiah 29:11) challenged my misbeliefs. The change did not happen overnight but I kept believing and confessing His Word. I am a work in progress and I am making daily progress and so will you.
