The LORD spoke in Genesis 8:21 saying, “The imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth” The continual evil imaginations of men grieved the heart of God, and He destroyed the world by a flood. With all the evil that is happening around us today, it must be surely grieving His heart to the core.
All sin begins in our thoughts (imaginations). Scripture clearly tells us that “David sent and inquired about the woman (Bathsheba). And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Then David sent messengers and took her; (2 Samuel 11:3-4)
It is each person’s own desires and thoughts that drag them into evil and lure them away into darkness. Evil desires give birth to evil actions. (James 1:14-15 TPT)
When David inquired about Bathsheba, the people clearly told him that she was a married woman. To make matters worse, they also told him that she was the wife of one of his most trusted and loyal soldiers – Uriah the Hittite. All of a sudden, logic, reason, and spiritual conviction were swept aside, and he was totally consumed by lust. Tragically, this sin for David led to adultery, murder, and consequences handed down for generations in his family.
If you have fallen into some kind of sin, don’t allow it to become a pattern. What do I mean by a pattern? When you keep doing it again and again, it becomes a pattern. Let me respectfully warn you that this will lead you to destruction. Like a mortally wounded person, you need immediate attention. You need to turn to God in repentance now!
“Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.” Proverbs 4:23 (NCV) Whatever our minds focus on is what will play out in our lives and eventually shape who we are. It’s often our thoughts, not our circumstances, which cause us to sink in the mire.
The battle for purity is won or lost in your mind. We must learn to take our thoughts captive. Snip those thoughts in the bud before they bloom.

Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, uproot every thought and desire that is unclean from me. Help me to stay pure for Your glory. Amen.
