The God Kind of Faith

So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. (Mark 11:22-23)

Many times, we find ourselves at the mercies of unpleasant situations where we see nothing but gloom. When around us is a wall of impossibilities and a gully of emptiness, instead of speaking faith, we often find ourselves gushing out streams of empty words of fear and dismay. Our problem becomes an ocean in which we drown helplessly.

But from the above scriptures, you will realize that God's kind of faith is one that never accommodates fear in speech. If you have the God-kind of faith, it shows and reflects in what comes out of your mouth when you are in deep troubled waters. However, as good as speaking in faith is, it must agree with a deep trust in God from within. So, a faith that is God-kind is a function of a heart that believes God and a mouth that professes the same! You can't have God-kind of faith and speak defeat.

In the passage from which this verse is carved out, Jesus began to exhort the disciples to rest their faith in God. Jesus gave the disciples the reason why their faith must be in God. Here is the secret—A faith that rests in God is exhibited in acts of unwavering trust in His omnipotent power and unfailing goodness (Mark 5:34).

Imagine the hyperbole Jesus used in shedding light on the impossible situation that God-kind of faith can bring a solution to. Jesus said, "Whoever says to this mountain…" The mountain Jesus used figuratively there was the Mount of Olives. That mountain simply represents an immovable obstacle. A mountain is so solid that it's impossible to move it. Aren't there times in our lives when we face such a situation that looks immovable? Yes!

Do you notice that Jesus said the tool for bringing a shift to that mountain is not any other thing than the word of faith? What you say to those impossible situations matters a lot because words solidify the foundations of man's realities.

Lord Jesus continued, and He said speaking words of faith aren't only powerful in changing impossible and static situations; it also relocates them into a place where you will never see them again. Wow! That's secured victory over life challenges. "Be removed and be cast into the sea..…"

If you shift the mountain to another location, who knows, your journey may take you someday through that route. So, Jesus said, remove your obstacles by the word of faith into the sea of no return—a picture of wide-ranging victory. Never forget this, faith-powered prayer taps God's power to accomplish the humanly impossible.

Father, thank You because you always hear me. I face all my mountains of challenges today by faith, knowing that no situation or difficulty is impossible for You. In Jesus' name. Amen!
