For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)
This scripture tells us that God thinks differently than a man. In other words, God has a unique standard of thinking. The truth is that if we are to walk with God, encounter His presence, then we have to adopt His standards and not lower God to our standards – that’s compromise.
Most of us live lives based on what we see and hear around us. The circumstances or people around us often dictate our standards. If you want to make a difference, if you want to enter all that God has for you, then, don’t let society dictate your standards. Let the Lord and His word define your standards.
We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood of God, God’s very own possession. You are not just an ordinary person. (1 Peter 2:9)You need to step up and live a life of righteousness according to God’s love and holiness. Raise your standards and experience the fullness of God’s strength.
If you really want a change in your life, you will have to raise your standards. Your standards could be, for example, to reach your appointments on time (including church services) or not to consume aerated drinks or to sleep and wake up at a regular time daily or to pray at a set time daily and so forth.
Be it health, relationships, serving the Lord, you have to raise the standard. Paul wrote in Colossians 3:1-4, “since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven… Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
In simple words, Apostle Paul was saying that as a Christian we need to effectively raise the standard so that we can become living advertisements for Christ. Decide that you are not going to lead a sloppy life anymore. You are going to move in excellence in every area of your life. You can surely do it with the Lord on your side.
