Prayer
O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You; (Psalm 63:1)
Give the Lord your time after you wake up. For example: Let’s say you wake up at 6 am. After finishing your essentials, spend some time in the word and prayer. Don’t check your notifications on your smartphone. This time is sacred and reserved for Him alone.
David’s early morning routine was to seek the Lord first thing in the morning. This one secret catapulted him from a mere shepherd boy to the legendary King of Israel. This could well be your secret, too; for peak performance in all areas of your life.
Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. (Mark 1:35)
Lord Jesus is our perfect example. The very first thing that He did was to spend time with His Father. He put His devotion and love for the Father above everything else. It is out of this relationship that power flowed unhindered to the multitudes.
When we put God first in the day, our mind man is renewed, and we receive inward strength to face the challenges in the day ahead.
Now putting God first in the day, every day, will not be easy for everyone. The flesh and the devil will team up to fight against you so that you continue to keep God low on your list of priorities. You must fight back. If you fail one day, don’t give up. Dust yourself and try again. Ask the Lord to help you in this regard. “His grace is sufficient for us, and His power works best in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT)
Many make the mistake of waiting until evening to give God their time. But, unfortunately, by that time, you will have been already worn out and weary.
Time is the most precious commodity in the universe. Most of us don’t realize how valuable time really is
The Value of One Year:
Ask a student who has failed a grade
The Value of One Hour:
Ask a person who missed his connecting flight because his first was delayed by an hour.
The Value of 1 sec:
Ask an Olympic athlete who failed to make the medal because he missed it by a second.
This is how important time is, and when we offer God our time the first thing every day, we are offering Him the best of what we have. We are now putting Him First.
God did not give all of us the same giftings and abilities, nor the same amount of wealth, but He has given each of us the same amount of time.
