Spiritual Laws: The Law of Association

If you want your life to count and be of value, one of the spiritual laws that you need to tap into is the law of association. You could be anyone or on whatever level; this law will work for everyone. Needless to say, this law will catapult you into the realms of excellence and fruitfulness.

Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces. (Proverbs 13:20 Msg)

The above bible verse so clearly reveals the law of association. Speaking in simple words, when you hang around people who are wiser than you, their wisdom will rub off on you, and your life will be built up. On the other hand, if you choose to hang around with fools, your life will crumble to pieces.

The Bible warns us saying, "Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character." (1 Corinthians 15:33 Amp)

The Bible tells us of a time in David's life when, "...Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him." (1 Samuel 22:2)

Notice the 3 D's

1.Distress

2.Debt

3.Discontented

Speaking in secular terms, when a person has these 3 D's in their life, it's all over. Hardly will anyone rise when a person has these three killer D's. However, all this changed when they started associating with the anointed man of God, David. Their association with David made them into the kind of men described in 1 Chronicles 12:8: "Mighty men of valour, men trained for battle, who could handle the shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as gazelles on the mountains."

This law will work for anyone and cause an increase and blessing if we intentionally align ourselves with people who are more mature than us in the ways of God and life.

Now when they (the religious leaders in Jerusalem) saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus," (Acts 4:13).

After encountering the resurrected Lord and the encounter with the Holy Spirit in the upper room, the disciples of Jesus literally turned their known world upside down. The so-called men of power in their times were shocked and marvelled, but they soon realized that all this was possible only because of their association with Jesus. The Pharisees and the Sadducees of those times understood the law of association, and it's high time we embrace it too.

Ordinary disciples became world changers because of their covenant relationship with Jesus - you and I can too. We, too, can accelerate our success, our anointing levels, our prayer life, etc, by partnering with people of wisdom and victory.
