Dealing with Ancestral Patterns
"So he said to Him, "O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house." (Judges 6:15)
As we wait upon God in prayer today, we must recognise any evil patterns operating in our family lineage and break free from any satanic influences. Gideon's encounter with God in the Bible reveals how he was commissioned to usher His people into deliverance and blessing. However, he was worried about his background; he said, "My clan is the weakest in Manasseh..." It was clear that in Gideon's family, there was a pattern of poverty.
Have you ever noticed a repeated pattern in your family? Maybe you've noticed that certain things, such as health issues, troubles with marriage, or problems with money, keep happening over and over. These could be signs of an ancestral pattern that needs to be broken.
If you're experiencing unexplainable hatred and difficulties in your life, workplace, or anywhere you go, it could be a sign of ancestral patterns. Some believers are confused because they have prayed, fasted, and done all they could think of, but the problem keeps resurfacing at different times. They fail to understand that if their prayers are not targeting the right problem, they may not produce the desired result. It is important to learn to pray in the right direction if you want to see tangible victory in your life.
Can a Christian be Affected by Ancestral Patterns?
Yes, a Christian can be affected by ancestral powers and patterns. According to the word of God, a Christian should not be influenced by ancestral powers and patterns because we are above them through new birth. However, certain conditions can make a Christian susceptible to the influence of ancestral powers and patterns. Some of these conditions include:
1. Ignorance: Hosea 4:6 reveals that when a believer is ignorant of the finished work of Christ, their authority in Christ, and all that God has purchased for them through redemption, ancestral powers can operate in their life. God's people can be destroyed when they lack knowledge. The lack of knowledge allows defeated powers to have an impact on a believer.
2. Sin: Isaiah 59:1-2 reveals that sin creates a gap between a believer and God. When a believer engages in sin, ancestral forces can gain access to influence and attack. The Bible advises against giving the devil a place (Read Ephesians 4:27). Sin opens the door for attacks from ancestral powers.
3. Prayerlessness: Believers are meant to enforce the victory of Christ through prayer. Failure to pray allows defeated powers to operate unhindered. James 5:16 encourages believers to engage in fervent prayer, as it is effective in preventing the activities of the devil.
"In those days, they shall say no more: The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge. Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah — not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke..." (Jeremiah 31:29-32)
In the Scripture above you can clearly see that there is a new covenant in force, forbidding ancestral powers and patterns from passing from parents to their children. The new covenant establishes personal accountability for iniquities, contrary to the old covenant made during the exodus from Egypt.
Unfortunately, many people are ignorant of ancestral patterns, and they fail to pray in addressing them. Ignorance sponsors demonic activities, and it is important to recognise these patterns and break free from them in prayer.
So, let's take some time today to pray and ask God to reveal any ancestral patterns in our lives that need to be broken so that we can walk in victory and freedom.
Bible Reading Plan : Act 21-26

Repeat every prayer missile till it comes from your heart. Only then move on to the next prayer missile. (Repeat it, personalise it, do this with each prayer point for a minimum 1 minute)
Anoint yourself and your home with oil before you say these prayers.

3. Every stronghold of death and tragedy in my family come to an end in the name of Jesus. (2 Corinthians 10:4)
4. Every messenger of death, poverty, and tragedy operating in my family line; die in the name of Jesus. (Psalm 107:20)
5. Every curse of disorder, divorce, and delay upon my family, be broken by fire, in the name of Jesus. (Galatians 3:13)
6. O Lord, manifest your glory in my family, in the name of Jesus. (Exodus 33:18)
7. Every pattern of failure and non-achievement in my root, die, in the name of Jesus. (Philippians 4:13)
8. In this year, I shall enjoy divine helpers, mega testimonies, and financial prosperity in Jesus' name. (Deuteronomy 28:12)
9. I receive fire to destroy every sexual defilement and pollution in my life, in the name of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 6:18)
10. Every satanic influence in my life, be quenched by the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus' name. (James 4:7)
