I SHALL HEAR GOOD NEWS
"But the angels said to them, 'Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people." Luke 2:10 (NIV)
The birth of Jesus is good news for humanity. It signifies the arrival of salvation, the kingdom of God, the glory of God, and the blessings of God.
Every believer is also commissioned with the message of the gospel, which is the good news of the kingdom of God and the good news about Christ. Good news is part and parcel of what salvation offers us, because salvation in itself is good news.
In our anchor scripture, Luke chapter 2, we see that the angel brought good news to the shepherds. The angel also brought good news to Elizabeth (Luke 1:26-47). All through the scripture, we also see the angels bringing good news to people. Concerning the birth of Samson, the angel brought good news to Samson's mother (Judges 13:3).
It is the will of God for us to hear good news. In Isaiah 43, verse 19, God says, 'Behold, I will do a new thing.' Every action of God turns into good news. God wants to do a new thing in your life this year, and this season. You have to key into it by faith so that you can receive the blessings that God has for you.
Proverbs 15:30 states, 'A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.'
What are the effects of good news?
1. It can build up your faith.
Good news builds up your faith. Whenever we hear good news, our faith in God is strengthened, it is empowered, it is also on fire for God. That is why in the church, there are opportunities for people to share testimonies. Testimonies are meant to build up your faith.
2. It brings joy and celebration.
When you hear good news, it brings joy. Bad news brings sorrow, pain, crying, and regret, but good news brings joy and celebration.
3. It revives your spirit.
Good news has a way of reviving your spirit, causing you to be happy and rejoice. You come alive when you hear good news. A broken spirit is a product of bad news. Bad news can break human spirits and crush hope. But good news strengthens your spirit and renews your hope in God.
4. It makes you courageous and confident in God.
If you keep hearing good news every time, you will become more courageous and confident. But when you hear bad news repeatedly, before you know what is happening, you will become doubtful of the power of God. To remain confident, you must intentionally hear good news.
You must make sure that you are not allowing bad news to affect your life. So, we have a responsibility to position ourselves to hear good news and to expect good news.
5. It blesses your heart.
When we hear bad news, our heart is weakened and burdened. But good news blesses you, blesses your heart.
6. Good news comes with blessings and benefits.
If you are in an office and you hear the good news that you are being promoted, that promotion is a blessing and comes with benefits. Because you will now have access to some privileges that you didn't have in your former position."
So, good news blesses us. It's a blessing to us when we hear good news. When you say, 'I shall hear good news,' you are directly and indirectly praying for blessings to show up in your life.
7. It reveals our victory over the world.
So, this New Year, God will give you good news. You will hear good news everywhere you turn.
You will hear good news when you go out. You will hear good news when you come in. You will hear good news everywhere you turn to in the name of Jesus Christ.
Proverbs 25:25 says, 'Like cold water to a weary soul, is good news from a distant land.' Good news refreshes your life, refreshes your soul. It is something needed for you to stay happy, energetic, and productive.
