The main reason we fear the enemy (the devil) is because we walk by sight and not by faith.
I draw your attention to 2 King 6. The King of Syria was at war against Israel. He was troubled to learn that whatever plans he made in secret with his advisors were leaked out to the King of Israel. He suspected that there was a spy among his advisors but was assured that it was not so. He was further briefed that it was Prophet Elisha to whom the Spirit of the Lord revealed everything that the King of Syria strategized in secret. The King of Syria then commanded his elite team to capture Prophet Elisha.
And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around. (2 Kings 6:15-17)
Elisha’s servant was looking but not seeing. He saw the army of Syria surround their town, but he did not see the host of angels protecting God’s people. He was walking in spiritual blindness.
Prophet Elisha’s prayer is a powerful tool to deal with this blindness. We need to pray daily, “Lord, open my eyes that I might see the things that you want me to see.”
When our spiritual eyes are opened, we see things from God’s perspective. We will see that we are seated in heavenly places in Christ. We will see that Christ rules and has already won the victory. We will not walk in fear.
In our daily lives, we may face challenges and opposition that seem insurmountable. However, when we choose to walk by faith and not by sight, we can trust that God is at work behind the scenes, orchestrating events and circumstances for our good and His glory. We can find peace and courage, knowing that the Lord is on our side and that His angels are fighting on our behalf.
