Chapter 1

Book / 4 / 424 chapter - 1
2286
It is [only] eleven days’ journey from Horeb (another name for Mount Sinai) by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea [on Canaan’s border; yet Israel took forty years to get beyond it]. (Deuteronomy 1:2 Amplified)

That is a tragedy.  It wasn't the distance of the journey that delayed their arrival. It was their attitude while on the journey that delayed their arrival. Your attitude towards the word of God determines how higher, how farther you will go. Your attitude towards the word is called a mind-set.

How important it is for us to have the right mind-set
We go around and around the same mountain instead of making progress. It takes us years to experience victory over something that could, and should, have been dealt with quickly and put behind us. God showed me that wilderness mentalities are wrong mind-sets.

Colossians 3:2 teaches us to set our minds and keep them set. We need our minds set in the right direction. Wrong mindsets not only affect us but they impact the people around us (our family members, our loved ones, etc.)

Don't Miss Your Promised Land
In fact, most of the people that started out on the 11-day journey were dead and gone 40 years later.  They never made it. To me, this is one of the saddest things that can happen to anyone—to have so much available but not be able to enjoy it.

It’s not just enough to come out of Egypt, you have to get into Canaan. It’s not enough to receive deliverance you have to get into the promises

Some of you are going through the wilderness. The wilderness is not bad, but neither is it your final destination.

Promise
May the Lord God of Israel make you a thousand times more numerous than you are and bless you. In Jesus’ name. Amen. (1:11)

And the Lord heard your words and was angered (Deuteronomy 1:34)

When the Lord hears your words, does He get angry or happy?
We can make the Lord happy or angry by our words. The choice is ours.
