Now the Angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And He said, I brought you up from Egypt and have brought you to the land which I swore to give to your fathers, and I said, I will never break My covenant with you; (Judges 2:1)
Bible scholars say that this Angel of the Lord could be an appearance of Lord Jesus Christ before His incarnation.
Bochim is the place of tears
Although there is nothing wrong with expressing our emotions or having an emotional response to the Lord, emotions themselves matter little when there is no change involved. The children of Israel probably cried for hours and then went right back and lived the way they wanted to live.
What that tells us is their weeping was only an emotional response and not repentance is the fact that they did not change.
Youth Meetings/ Kidz Church
When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10)
It is so important that we impact the next generation for Lord Jesus or else they will not know the Lord nor His mighty works,
In Deuteronomy 4:9: "Take heed and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; make them known to your children and your children's children."
This is a word to grandparents too!
And again in Deuteronomy 11:18, 19: "You shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul . . . And you shall teach them to your children."
God's design for the preservation of historical revelation is the family. Within the Christian community the main link between what this generation knows and what the next generation will know is the link between parent and child.
Joel 1:3 puts it in a nugget: "Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation."
so that through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the ways of the Lord, to walk in them as their fathers kept them, or not.” (Judges 2:22)
Either you can be a test to someone or a blessing.
