Dangers of Doubting

21 449
My friend, if you find yourself in a similar position to the high-ranking official, I want to caution you about the dangers of doubting. Doubt can cause you to:

1. Miss Out on God's Best
I am not talking about perfect faith, but when you constantly entertain doubt, you will miss out on God’s best. For example, when you receive a prophetic word through an anointed man of God or through a message like this, but all you do is keep on doubting whether it is the word of the Lord or if it will come to pass, you will miss out on God’s best for you.

Some of you may be involved in church work or part of the leadership team; you are so close to the word or to the man of God, but you never believe the word, and you miss out on God’s best. Afterwards, all you have left is a story to tell people.

James 1:6-7 emphasises the importance of faith and the consequences of doubt: "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways." A person who constantly doubts is at the mercy of their circumstances, driven and not led, ultimately receiving nothing from the Lord.

The high-ranking official told Prophet Elisha that even if God made windows in heaven, the situation would not change. And Prophet Elisha spoke back, saying, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.” (2 Kings 7:2)

Do you know what happened to this high-ranking official? The man was trampled to death at the city gate by the people who were rushing for supplies which were not freely available, just as the man of God had prophesied. (2 Kings 7:20) He saw it, but he could not taste it. He was so close and yet so far.

This also serves as a reminder that while we may believe God for others, we must also believe in His promises for ourselves. Our faith should not waver when it comes to our personal relationship with God. Otherwise, we risk a life of unfulfilled potential and unrealised blessings.
