No More Stagnation

As a child, my mother would often tell me to choose the right kind of friends—whether at school or even among the group I played with in the evenings. At that age, it sounded like simple parental advice. But it wasn’t until my early twenties that I truly understood the depth of what she was trying to communicate.
The Bible says, “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’” (1 Corinthians 15:33).

That verse moved from being a memory verse to becoming a lived reality. I began to see how environment shapes destiny.

Your Circle Shapes Your Character
Choosing the right people to spend time with is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. It is not just a social decision; it is a spiritual one. In fact, it is one of the most practical areas where you begin to discern the voice of God and His will for your life.
Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”

Notice the simplicity of that wisdom. You don’t even have to try to become wise just walk with the wise. Association produces impartation.

God is deeply interested in the relationships in your life friends, business colleagues, ministry partners, and even your future spouse. The right connections accelerate purpose; the wrong ones delay destiny.

Destiny Connections Are Divine
Every time God does something significant in our lives, He introduces us to new people—people who are connected to our calling and purpose. When Abraham stepped out in faith, he encountered Melchizedek. When David was anointed, Jonathan appeared. Divine assignments often come with divine relationships.

Learning to discern God’s voice will remove you from unhealthy relationships and bring you into alignment with the right people. Sometimes elevation requires separation.

The people you spend most of your time with will either contribute to your growth or to your downfall. There is no neutral ground.

Two Keys to Surrounding Yourself with the Right People

1. Look for a Values Match
Seek people whose values resonate with yours. If you value prayer, surround yourself with people who value prayer. If you value integrity, stay close to those who walk in integrity. And the list could go on. I hope you got what I am trying to say.

2. Pray Intentionally
Pray earnestly: “Lord, surround me with the right people. Connect me with destiny helpers.” The same God who sent provision in the wilderness is more than able to send the right relationships into your life.

Follow this prophetic word and see your life go to the next level.

Prayer
Father, give me the gift of discernment in my life. Help me to know the right people from the wrong people and associate with those who are furthering Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
