The Lord spoke to the nation of Israel, saying:
“I have called you by your name; you are Mine.” — Isaiah 43:1–2
A name identifies and sets a person or a nation apart from the crowd. It is not merely a label it carries identity, purpose, and belonging.
When God calls someone by name, He is not just addressing them He is claiming them.
Identity and Authority
When the Lord wanted to affirm Aaron’s leadership in Israel, He instructed the leaders of Israel to bring their rods and inscribe each leader’s name on his staff:
“Speak to the children of Israel, and get from them a rod from each father’s house… You shall write each man’s name on his rod.” — Numbers 17:1–2
A name represents the person, the family, and even the tribe. It carries authority and identity.
When a name is written, it signifies ownership, responsibility, and divine recognition.
Throughout Scripture, God often changed the names of individuals before bringing them into their destiny.
- Abram → Abraham (Father of many nations)
- Jacob → Israel (Prince with God)
A change in name signified a change in identity, purpose, and future.
God was not just renaming them He was redefining them.
More Than a Name
In the same way, when we speak the Name of Jesus, we are not merely uttering a word we are declaring a Person.
A Name that embodies power not human power, but divine authority.
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” — Colossians 2:9–10
When we speak the Name, we are describing who He is.
“You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” — Matthew 1:21
The name Jesus means Saviour.
When we call upon Him, we are declaring His nature:
- He saves us from sin
- He delivers us from failure
- He rescues us from our mistakes
- He intervenes in situations beyond our control
The Supreme Authority of His Name
The Bible clearly teaches that there is no name above the Name of Jesus.
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” — Philippians 2:9–10
His Name carries authority in:
- Heaven
- Earth
- Under the earth
Every power, every force, and every situation must respond to His Name.
A Living Testimony
Many years ago, I was invited to conduct a gospel outreach in a small, remote village in India. A large crowd had gathered.
However, some enemies of the gospel also came, intending to disrupt the meeting. They shouted abuses and created a tense atmosphere. The organisers were visibly nervous.
At that moment, the Lord prompted me to stop the message and rebuke the powers of darkness in the Name of Jesus.
Not knowing what would happen, I obeyed.
Immediately, a woman came running forward and said,
"I had a growth in my neck, and it is no longer there!"
Many people in the crowd knew her condition and confirmed that the growth had indeed disappeared.
In that instant, the entire atmosphere shifted.
Those who came to disrupt the meeting became calm, joined the service, and later even requested prayer.
The Name That Changes Atmospheres
When we reverently use the Name of Jesus:
- Power is released
- Situations change
- Lives are transformed
- Darkness is driven out
The same Name that healed, delivered, and transformed then—still carries the same power today.
I urge you use the precious Name of Jesus.
Not casually, but reverently.
Not mechanically, but in faith.
Your situation will bow its knees to that Name.
Because when you speak His Name,
you are not just speaking a word
you are invoking the authority of heaven itself.

Prayer
Father, In the name of Jesus, I command every situation that is contrary to Your word in my life to bow its knees to the name of Jesus. I give glory and praise to the name of Jesus. Amen.
