Use Your Imagination to Shape Your World

Imagination
Today, I want to talk to you about your imagination. You imagine things all day in and day out. The words you hear paint pictures in your imagination.
Unfortunately and contrary to God’s Word, most people spend far too much of their time imagining the things they fear or are concerned with what could go wrong in their life. The newspapers and the media only add fuel to fears by spewing news that fuels negative imaginations.
Your imagination can be a powerful tool to recreate your chaotic world. Why do I say that? Let me explain. What you imagine, stimulates, and launches words that affect everything including your faith and peace.
Isaiah 26:3 NLT says, “Lord, you will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts (imaginations) are fixed on you!”
One day God awakened Abraham in the night and took him outside of his tent: “And He (God) brought him (Abraham) forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if you can number them: and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be.” “And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD, and he (God) counted it to him for righteousness” (Genesis 15:6).
God wanted to bless Abraham but He needed Abraham’s imagination. Abraham, not having any children and still living by the senses, could not imagine that his seed would be as innumerable as the dust of the earth as God had said. So God had to appeal to his imagination and to do this He took him outside, showed him the stars, and told him to count them.
As Abraham looked at the stars, he caught God’s idea; he could imagine the faces of his children in those stars. The Bible declares that he believed God, after which God changed his name from ‘Abram’ meaning ‘exalted Father’ to ‘Abraham’ which means ‘Father of many.’ You see, God could not call him Abraham until he believed Him and carried the vision of what He said inside of him.
God also changed the name of his wife from ‘Sarai’ meaning ‘contentious’ to ‘Sarah’ meaning ‘Queen of Princes’ or ‘Mother of princes.’ God did this so the picture He had established in Abraham’s heart could be kept alive.
Your imagination is a powerful too that you can use to build or recreate your world.
Prayer
Father, help me use my imagination in line with Your Word so that it shapes my very life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
