How to Pray When You Feel Distant from God

Prayer
There was a time in my life when I felt that God was distant or simply not interested in my life. Do you ever struggle to pray because you don’t feel a connection with God? Some of you may perhaps feel the same, thinking that God is too distant to reach out.
Over the years, I have come to know through experience that even when you don’t sense God’s presence in your everyday life, He is always there for you. He is reaching out to you even when you are not stretching your arms.
The truth is simple. If you want to experience more of God in your life, you only must ask. If you want to hear what He’s saying to you as you read the Bible, simply ask.
“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-10 NLT)
So if you feel distant from God, ask Him to help you be more aware of His presence. The Lord loves you as His own son and daughter. You don’t need to earn the right to be in His presence. Jesus has already paid the price and done this for you and me!
One of the ways you can close the gap between you and God is by telling Him how you feel. This will take the burden off you and hand it over to Jesus. He wants us to rest in His strength and not our own (Matthew 11:28–30).
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I surrender my brokenness and pain to You. All that I have within me cries out to You, my God. Please help me! I know You can; hence I come to You. Amen.
