A Star in the Workplace –I

Workplace
The LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)
We are pursuing the theme; ‘How a person can become a star at the workplace’. ‘When the cat’s away, the mice are at play is so true even at the workplace. When the boss is away, the staff will sway. Such people are only men-pleasers and not God pleasers. They are not working as unto the Lord but only for men. This attitude smells of insincerity and hypocrisy. The fear of God is absent in such hearts (Colossians 3:22).
Is it any wonder then, when such people miss out on promotions, that they are totally heartbroken and plunge into a deep depression?
Look at the life of Jacob; Laban (his boss) literally used (abused) him, but Jacob did his job as unto the Lord. He did his job with Godly fear, knowing that his promotion would neither come from the east nor the west nor from the south, but it would come from the Lord of Hosts. (Psalm 75:6)
It’s not the greatness of the work which matters to God but the love with which it’s done. Let me tell you by the Holy Spirit, work diligently as unto the Lord. If your boss does not promote you, the Lord surely will. Then you can say like Jacob, “God has seen my affliction and the labour of my hands,” Hallelujah!

Confession
I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth, the author and finisher of my faith. (Psalm 121:1-2) (Hebrews 12:2)
