Most times, pupils are given examples on a particular topic before they can solve other questions by themselves. As the teacher explains using the examples, they are keen on the pattern and method used to arrive at the answers. Afterwards, they are left on their own to face and solve the rest.
Through the examples, they are able to solve similar problems independently of anyone’s help. The people around you are looking for real-life examples; that they can learn from. Have you ever been in a situation where someone wanted to follow your way of doing things? It could be that someone wants to walk the way you walk, smile the way you do, and even speak the way you do. While it can be flattering to know that someone wants to emulate you, it can also be a major responsibility. I once saw a car bumper sticker that said, “Don’t follow me; I’m lost too.” Unfortunately, that’s the sorry state of affairs of the world and of many well-meaning Christians also.
As a Christian, you and I are called to be examples to others, living a lifestyle worthy of emulation. Our deeds, our words, proudly reveal to men that we belong to a glorious family of whom God is our Father. It does not matter what your age is – it’s only a number. Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, whom he was mentoring. “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (I Timothy 4:12)
Being a godly example is not an option; it is commanded in Scripture. Apostle Paul wrote to Titus, “In all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.” (Titus 2:7-8)
Titus had to be more than a Christian; he also had to be an example, a pattern. One of the ways we can powerfully impact the people in our family, our relatives, and those living around us is by becoming examples of what we claim to believe in. This is a powerful yet basic principle that is often neglected. Be an example!

Prayer
Father, I thank You that You always hear me. Make me a powerful example to others in word and deed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
