Fuel for Worship

And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. (Revelation 1:17-18)

Without wood, the fire goes out; without gossip, a quarrel dies down. (Proverbs 26:20)

During my prayer time, I have been prompted by the Holy Spirit to spend time just worshipping the Lord and loving Him. Very often, our worship times can be easily limited to a conference, a service or an experience. Once the conference is over; once the service is over, the fire and the passion grow dim.

I am thoroughly convinced that, most often, it happens because we fail to fuel the fire. If our worship is easily extinguished, it is because it lacks fuel.

What is the fuel for worship?
A closer look at what fuelled and ignited Apostle John's worship will reveal this secret to us. The fuel for our worship is the revelation of God! It is not the latest band, the newest experience or conference, a certain worship leader or concert, the best speaker or service! All of these are good, and I am certainly not against them. However, true worship only comes when we see the Lord for who He truly is!

Here are a few who saw the Lord for who He truly is. Moses fell and worshipped. (Exodus 34:5-8). Joshua fell and worshipped. (Joshua 5:13-15). All people will fall and worship (Philippians 2:10-11). If we are not responding in worship to God, there's one reason; you are not seeing Him for who He truly is. To see God is to worship Him.

As Matt Redman, a worship leader and author put it: 'So often when my worship has dried up, it's because I haven't soaked myself under the shower of God's revelation.'

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Colossians 3:16)

When we make room for the word of God and allow it to influence our daily lives, it will bring a revelation of who God truly is. This, in turn, will lead us to worship Him with thankful hearts and with prophetic songs sometimes given to us spontaneously by the Spirit.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You, for You are my Lord. You deserve my praise and worship. I worship You for who You are. In Jesus' Name. Amen (Spend some quality time worshipping Him)
