Praise
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. (Luke 10:38-39)
There were many homes in Bethany, but scripture says Jesus would often stay at Martha, Mary, and Lazarus’ home. I believe this was because He was warmly welcomed. God will always go to a place where He is celebrated and not tolerated.
I have often been to places where one can immediately and literally feel God’s presence. One can literally feel an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquillity. One of the reasons for this is that these are places where there is constant praise and worship being offered.
But You are holy,
Enthroned in the praises of Israel. (Psalm 22:3)
This means that wherever people want to praise Him, God says, “I will be there” God dwells in the praises of His people. The place of praise is where God literally dwells. God is attracted to such places.
If you can get a hold of this secret, your home can be a blessed place. Please allow me to explain.
One day a person wrote to me saying that they were contemplating shifting their place of residence because they were facing a lot of evil attacks. Apparently, some evil powers were troubling them in that place. They were advised to move to another place. In the past, they had already shifted two places of residence.
If you or someone you know is going through such an experience, let me tell you that shifting places will not bring a permanent solution.
You see, the children of Israel were in bondage in Egypt for 430 years under an evil Pharaoh. However, through God’s mercy, they came out of Egypt in one night. They shifted their physical place of residence. They were now out of Egypt but still, the Pharaoh and his wicked armies followed them. (Please read Exodus 14)
This is what usually happens to people. You can physically come out of a place, but the spirits of darkness follow you wherever you go. What you need is the power of God to come upon you, your family, and your home so that the powers of darkness are out to shame.
In 2 Chronicles 20, we read about several armies that joined together to attack King Jehoshaphat and his people. They faced an imminent defeat at the hands of such a huge army.
What happened next is an incredible lesson for you and me. When they began to praise God, it threw the enemy into a panic, and they fought against themselves. So they renamed the valley “Berachah”, which means the valley of praise or valley of blessing.
And on the fourth day, they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore, the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day. (2 Chronicles 20:26)
When you praise God, He can turn your valley of fear and desperation into a valley of praise and blessing.
When you offer praise to the Lord in your home, in the place of your business, His presence will descend, and the powers of darkness will have to flee. Why not praise God together as a family for a few minutes every day? You could even start your day by playing some praise and worship music on your music system or even your phone. Let that music waft through your house like incense.
As you begin to do this, you will experience remarkable changes. His peace and prosperity will begin to flow like a river.
Maybe you are going through some court cases related to some property. Stand in that place and spend time praising God and declaring the Lord’s victory in that place. You will come back with a story for His glory.
Confession
I will praise the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. Hence my mourning will turn into dancing and my sorrows into Joy in Jesus' name.
